To step “off grid”

DCIM100GOPROGOPR1239.JPGPeople often say that they want to get off the grid. Beyond just meaning getting away from it all for a while. Sometimes we forget there´s a whole life out there. Our lives behove consumed with tasks and work, the point we let each day pass without even recognizing it.

When was the last time you took a break and enjoyed the wonderful life?

One and a half year ago my husband and I decided to live it all behind and for a while and bring some nice forward motion on travel matters, start some new chapters and a host of new beginnings.

Thankfully, for the journey so far I´d like to step back in time and share more of the adventures from the past year.

Let´s take a break, relax and enjoy for a moment and go exploring Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas!

The Green Turtle Cay is the most northern and popular cay in the Abaccos, Bahamas. The Bahamas was originally known as “Baja Mar” a name bestowed by the Spanish settlers who arrived in 1492 in San Salvador by the aid of Christopher Columbus, believing they had found the East Indies. The name “Baja Mar” means “shallow sea”. In actuality, the islands are mountain plateaus that grew out of the Atlantic Ocean hundreds of thousand years ago.

There are so many beautiful things to see in Green Turtle Cay. The cay is small, idyllic and lobstering and tourism is the main industries of the island today. The reef just off Green Turtle Cay have gained an international reputation for their pristine beauty and abundance of sea life. The reefs, exposed to the tidal currents of the Atlantic Ocean, are just on the edge of survival as hard corals. The base of the corals is extinct, but the top as a healthy growth of Star and Elkhorn corals. Mazes of tunnels and caverns are etched out of the base reef by tidal currents.

The unofficial Ambassador of the Goombay Spirit Brendal Stevens from the Brendals Dive Center, offered us a full day of diving, where we catched our lunch and cooked it on the beach. We´ve source as much food as we can from the waters beneath us and have been catching and cooking lot of nice sea creatures, but we will never forget this wonderful memories.

Grateful, for this diving adventure – a trip full of nature, wonderful humans, happiness and joy!
